  • Michelin XAS 165HR14 Tire The XAS is a high quality Michelin radial for many popular European applications requiring a 13-15 inch radial tire and authentic styling. These radial tires feature Michelin's XAS tread pattern and an H speed rating. From its launch in 1965, the Michelin XAS remained the reference tire until the end of the seventies. The first tire with an asymmetrical tread pattern, the inside and outside of Michelin XAS tires work differently to give the car a good balance. Michelin made progress by differentiating the many elements that form the tire, leading to the creation of the XAS. The XAS was constructed taking into account the different kinds of work done by the shoulders, sidewalls and different parts of the crown, depending on whether they are on the inside or outside relative to the car. Just like a persons foot is asymmetrical, the inside and outside of a tire work differently to give the car good balance and sure handling. This major advance allows the XAS tire to give remarkable stability, exceptional road holding ability and exceptional levels of grip in all conditions. The first production tire designed to run at 210km/h, (131mph), its exceptional performance led to the XAS being used in racing in Formula France in 1968, circuit racing, rallies and hill climbs.Popular on: 1965-1974 Alfa Romeo Giulia Junior GT, 165 HR14 84H, 1962-1980 MG B, 165 HR14 84H H Speed Rating H Speed Rated: Up to 130 mph (210 km/h). • Michelin X 185R16 Tire In 1949, Michelin set out to dominate the tire market with a considerable advance in technology. Its revolutionary radial construction of the Michelin X and later the Michelin X-Stop featured the special feature of separating the sidewall function from the crown function. The first major innovation from Michelin, the radial tire was first marketed as the "X" tire in 1949. The advantages of the radial Michelin X tire compared with the cross-ply tire could be clearly seen in all areas. Radial construction offered greater safety, grip and braking performance. • Michelin TRX-B 220/55VR390 Tire These tires have remarkable grip thanks to the ideal distribution of pressure in the contact patch, and excellent comfort due to increased useful flexing zone. TRX tires are built in the authentic molds and are available in many sizes for European and US autos. Quantities are limited and current stock on hand may be available, but future production is not guaranteed. The invention of the TRX tires by Michelin in 1975 permitted a more even distribution of tension in the whole tire casing, which is where the name of TR standing for "Tension Repartie" ("distributed tension") comes from. The Michelin TRX won renown in Formula 1 racing with Renault and Prost and in the world rally championship on the Audi Quattro, 205 Turbo 16 and R5 Turbo. For the first time, the tire and its rim complemented one another perfectly, working as a single unit. The rim underwent a fundamental transformation, the essential characteristic of which was a flatter, lower flange. This new design of the rim and tire bead resulted in a gradual curvature of the casing, without the "S" shaped flexing inherent in traditional designs. Thanks to this innovative construction, the TRX tire offers better directional stability and makes a great contribution to the active safety of the vehicle, thanks to its exceptional handling close to the limit, especially when cornering. W Speed Rating W Speed Rated: Up to 168 mph (270 km/h). Often required OE for very high performance trim level automobiles. Michelin TRX GT-B tire Steering precision. Like the "MICHELIN TRX", its "Low Profile" guarantees precise steering precision. Low rolling noises. Thanks to its specific tread pattern, the latest version of MICHELIN TRX reduces rolling noise. • Michelin XWX 205/70VR15 Tire The only radial tire which could be fitted on the fastest cars in the world in the 1970s, the Michelin XWX gives these high speed vehicles outstanding road holding ability and remarkable grip. Michelin XWX tires featured construction designed to reach an incredible 186 mph top speed. The special features of the XWX result in remarkable performance, combining speed, driving pleasure and safety. Being a VR category tire, the XWX can be used at speeds in excess of 210 kph (131 mph) ; with a maximum speed of 270 kph (155 to 186 mph). At the end of the 1960s, Germany and Italy were the leaders in the European motorway development program and were also the main producers of cars which could reach speeds in excess of 200 km/h, (124 mph). The wide asphalt strips and the absence of speed limits offered a privileged few the opportunity to make full use of the performance of these "super-cars" at speeds which would be unthinkable today. The Lamborghini Miura (1966), Ferrari 365 (1965), Maserati Ghilbi (1966) ; de Tomaso Pantera (1970) and Porsche 911 Carrera RS (1972) were the undisputed stars, but the large German saloons like the Mercedes 300 SE 6,31 (1968) and BMW 3.0 SI (1971) also made a strong impression.
