  • Michelin Pilot Exalto 165/60R14: In the early 2000s, the MICHELIN Pilot Exalto PE2 tire was born and this 165/60R14 is a current offering available at Eclectic Tire. Backed by the Michelin's experience in competition, and seeking to provide a higher level of performance, this tire initiated an asymmetrical tread with a variable contact patch, where the footprint increased when cornering. • Michelin XAS 165HR14 Tire The XAS is a high quality Michelin radial for many popular European applications requiring a 13-15 inch radial tire and authentic styling. These radial tires feature Michelin's XAS tread pattern and an H speed rating. From its launch in 1965, the Michelin XAS remained the reference tire until the end of the seventies. The first tire with an asymmetrical tread pattern, the inside and outside of Michelin XAS tires work differently to give the car a good balance. Michelin made progress by differentiating the many elements that form the tire, leading to the creation of the XAS. The XAS was constructed taking into account the different kinds of work done by the shoulders, sidewalls and different parts of the crown, depending on whether they are on the inside or outside relative to the car. Just like a persons foot is asymmetrical, the inside and outside of a tire work differently to give the car good balance and sure handling. This major advance allows the XAS tire to give remarkable stability, exceptional road holding ability and exceptional levels of grip in all conditions. • Michelin XZX S rated 165R15 Michelin XZX radial is available for many popular European applications requiring a 15 inch radial tire and authentic styling. These 15 inch radial tires feature Michelin's XZX tread pattern and an S speed rating. With radial casing plies, Michelin XZX Tires offered a considerable advance in technology. Its revolutionary construction for the time had the special feature of separating the sidewall function from the crown function. The first major innovation from Michelin, the radial tire was first marketed as the "X" tire in 1949. At that time, Lancia was the first car manufacturer to fit the X tire as original equipment on the Aurelia model. From 1955, radial technology became more popular and the majority of European car manufacturers opted for the radial solution. The X could be fitted to cars of very different categories, from the original and popular 2 CV or Beetle to the fascinating Mercedes 190SL or Facel Vega. The advantages of the radial tire compared with the cross-ply tire could be clearly seen in all areas :- greater safety (road-holding, grip, braking)- economical to use (double the mileage, considerable reduction in fuel consumption) - increased comfort thanks to the flexibility of the sidewalls. In the Fifties, the superiority of the X tire was such that a number of racing drivers adopted it, although Michelin was not officially involved in any racing. S Speed Rating S Speed Rated: Up to 112 mph (180 km/h). Often required OE for higher performance trim level classic automobiles. Michelin XZX tire Traction on slippery surfaces. At the end of 1975, the XZX succeeded the highly popular ZX tire. Thanks to the two large circumferential grooves and its continuous lateral grooves, the "MICHELIN XZX" tire provides excellent drainage in the contact patch. The numerous sipes provide excellent lateral grip on snow-covered surfaces. • Michelin XZX Narrow Whitewall 165R15 The Michelin XZX 165R15 is one of the most popular tires for vintage European cars, as the sizing covers hundreds of applications. Eclectic Tire is proud to offer the famous Michelin XZX in a whitewall, providing excellent fitment and performance on 1950's and 1960's classics. OE Fitments include 1954 through 1967 Austin Healey, 1961 through 1968 Fiat, 1961 through 1970 Peugeot, 1956 through 1974 Porsche, and of course the timeless Volkswagen Beetle, Saab, Triumph and Volvle. This tire features a 1.08-inch whitewall and the modern radial construction offers excellent grip in all environments, and a long tread life. The 165R15 sizing designates a 15-inch wheel fitment and an S Speed rating for safe operation and performance on today's highways. The Michelin XZX radial features a classic tread pattern and vintage sidewall markings for the ultimate period correct look. Genuine Narrow Whitewall Tire Typically wide whitewalls run all the way to the bead. Narrow whitewalls will stop somewhere before the bead, resulting in a narrower band of exposed white rubber. The bright white rubber is added directly to the tire sidewall during initial construction of the carcass, resulting in a truly integrated, high-quality product after vulcanization. This style became popular in the early sixties, eventually replacing wide whitewalls altogether. S Speed Rating S Speed Rated: Up to 112 mph (180 km/h).
